Although his ascent through the ranks was quick, Zane finds himself struggling with the many pressures that come with his position. Having left his brother to struggle alone once before, Viktor is determined to join the Legion to support his brother in any way he can. While the core mechanics of gameplay are almost the same, a lot of RPG-ish elements were added. There are different armor pieces now, gems, which improve all your stats and even armor set effects. Also the weapon arsenal is much bigger now.Levels now look like short missions with main objective and bonus objectives or challenges. While most of them are pretty short, there are lots of them. So, compared to the first game, how good is the sequel?1st thing, graphics. I don't know why, but for some reason the graphics downgraded to pixelated and less detailed compared to the first game. Well, the game is a prequel, so maybe that's the reason - it has to look worse, lol :D Anyway, it's not that bad, just worse than Viktor1 graphics in my opinion./2nd thing - soundtrack. Is it bad? No. Is it good? Well, not really. It fits, it's ok. But unfortunately it's nowhere near masterpiece OST of Viktor 1.Gameplay is almost the same, although I liked longer missions with bosses, how it was in 1st Viktor, more. More stuff, gear and upgrade gems are cool, but short missions in the same stages are not to my liking. I also liked bosses from the first Viktor more, but there are still some decent bosses in loyalty and blood too.VERDICT: New stuff is always a good thing and probably it's a good thing Viktor 2 is not a clone of Viktor 1, so I'm glad devs tried new stuff and all. But still 1st Viktor is more to my liking. Anyway, I'm glad devs made Viktor 2, I never expected a sequel actually, so if this becomes a franchise - I'm all for it. Viktor 3 will be a day 1 buy for me. So here goes: not better than the first, but still solid. 7/10.. i played the original Viktor 5 or so years back. As a total package, I'd say this one almost matches up to the original.Content wise, this game has A LOT more. But I feel it's a quantity over quality change. The levels on the original game were much more diverse and interesting than they are on this. I'm not generally the biggest fan of quest-type levels, which is what this game is made of, although I think it does them pretty well. The upgrade system and the way it encourages exploration is what really sets the game apart. There is a lot of incentive to find bluepints to make new weapons and armor. The variety of weapons in the game is pretty big and I found some of them particularly unique and fun to use.I'd say the game is on the easy side once you get the hang of the controls. If you think about your weapon choices, many enemies are almost no threat. However, the exploration and challenges do help to keep things pretty interesting. It's not a game that is going to blow your mind, but it is pretty fun, especially for the low price tag. I'd happily buy another Viktor game.. WoW! yep, not like the 1st one, type Contra or what ever, cause now it has more of an RPG element so yeah, it's that much better. So far so good =). Very fun game, challenging and exciting.I give it 5 out of 5 Little Boy Butts (LBB)5/5 LBBI recommend.. Short version - the devs clearly spent a lot of time making this game and just about no time testing it, which caused the players a lot of grief which the devs responded by saying "lol".This game is not really worth it. While close, a bit of really mean-spirited trolling by the developer just sort of wrecks things. This is a game about running around shooting things, like Castlevania, but in ~5 minute missions and with guns and no levels. So basically not a whole lot like Castlevania at all. That's about as close as I can come, though. It is side-scrolling, and your character has this pretty cool ability to slow time and teleport. You unlock crafting materials to make new guns (or don't, see below), and can get gems to socket into armor you find. The armor sets are mostly equal, the real customization is in the gems you socket. Unfortunately, there are just a handful (eight? ten?) types of gems, and as you go through the game you don't unlock new types, just the same thing but with bigger numbers. The real star of the show are the guns. They are many and varied - rifles, grenade launchers, flamethrowers, chainsaws, homing missile launchers... Pretty cool overall. The only downside is that several enemies are outright immune to certain categories of weapons (ice, fire, lightning, with each monster immune to their own type). This means that the most practical choice in nearly every situation is a boring old rifle, and using other weapons is a bit of fun but extremely situational and even then is noticeably less effective. Still, some variety is nice.Just considering what I've already written, I would probably recommend this game. There's a catch, though - the dev seems to just be trolling completionists. There are levels where, by all accounts, many thorough searches simply do not discover treasure chests that the developer says are there. I am not the only one to have as much trouble finding these. The developer has hinted that some really important crafting materials are hidden in these chests. Alright, fine, so they're really hard to get but you can find them? No, apparently not. If you check the global achievements you will find that 0.0% of players have actually unlocked all the weapons, which require the aforementioned materials. A joke from the dev, apparently, with glitched out chests or missing chests or materials requiring actions so bizarre that literally nobody has found them. Several hours wasted, which probably accounts for a quarter or so of my total time in this game.. You can't play it windowed with a controller because the developer decided the right stick would control the mouse pointer. Yeah. Enjoy that horrible mess.. Loyalty and Blood: Viktor Origins is a fantastic platform shooter with good castlevania-esque music in the background. This game is a refreshing breath of air from the giant pile of garbage pixel games on steam. Support these developers and buy this game.. I played bob was hungry and never played the original Viktor. When I recieved the coupon for this game I thought it looked good, and it is. Mission based shooter with an interesting mechanic. Got it relatively cheap too with the sale and the copuon. After playing this I am going to have to play the oringal Viktor. You don't really need the story from Viktor to understand as far as I can tell so far. Viktor comes home from traveling the world (which itself was the game viktor) to join a band of heroes in defending the world. Fun game, from Bob was hungry to this is a drastic difference, though both games are good.. This is a great game, and I loved the Phase shifting, along with the gun play. I like everything in this game, except for the training missions they are too over the top and over kill, Yes LOL right, but seriouly and the controls are alittle choppy but not bad.. 1.2 hours in: I had my hopes up, and so far this is more fun than expected! The phase mechanic is very much like a favorite Dishonored "blink" ability, and a welcome feature to this genre.I had thought I'd prefer an open-world, but the quick-jump-to mission format makes this game great to play for just a few minutes, or much longer, with bonus objectives in the levels that usually take a few minutes or less. The story seems solid, with an evolution and "unlocking" of characters (or at least one, so far), and a sense of deep character development. There's this tension and hint of bonding between brothers that feels fresh. It seems like there's a lot that's worth "grinding" for. However, the earning of currency isn't much of a grind; more the result of repeating levels a few times to accopmlish multiple bonus objectives (many of which can't be done in one playthrough of the level, simultaneously). Viktor quickly accumulates thousands of money-units (gems?) to spend on unlocking new gear and other-gems (which act as stat buffs that equip onto armor).New weapons and armor are crafted via found blueprints, hidden objects or (seemingly) random enemy drops in levels, with a simple currency + craft item formula.Overall, this game is easily worth the price I paid (40% off coupon for owning the first Viktor, which stacks on the launch-10%-off ... a little over $5). If I happen to play for a few more hours, I'd admit it's worth full price (which may be hard to do, due to my play-list, moreso than if this game is "fun enough" to be worth it, on its own).Great game!
